About the Therapies

Osteopathy
Is good for joints, muscles and ligaments...

Osteopathy was founded by Andrew Taylor Still in America in 1874. It is a system of healing which aims to improve the structure and function of the musculo-sketetal system in order to relieve pain, improve circulation and restore healthy function of the body as a whole.

Osteopaths are well known for treating painful back problems, but treat many other problems too, including:

•  Painful necks, shoulders, knees and feet

•  all joints from head to toe

•  sports injuries, sprains

•  the elderly

•  pregnant women

•  babies and children

•  osteoarthritis

•  headaches

•  whiplash problems

Naturopathy
Is the basic philosophy of holistic therapy

Naturopathy is a multi-disciplinary approach to health that aims to strengthen the body's own healing powers, through better nutrition, hydrotherapy, natural remedies, de-toxification, physical therapy, and promotion of a healthier lifestyle.

Naturopathy is especially used to help identify the most helpful treatment and/or self-help measures for chronic long-term symptoms such as

•  digestive disorders

•  allergies

•  endocrine disturbances

•  high blood pressure

•  arthritis

•  skin problems

Cranio-sacral therapy
Is the gentle form of osteopathy

Cranio-sacral therapy is extremely gentle, working on the head and down the spine, gently unwinding deep tensions, especially following a difficult birth, head injury, whiplash injury or emotional shock.

Consultations

The first consultation includes taking a full case history, examination of the problem area, discussion of options for treatment, agreeing a provisional plan for treatment, and starting treatment.

You may be asked to remove clothing for examination and treatment. Manual treatment may involve massage, stretching of muscles, and mobilising the joints. Sometimes the joints "click" when released, this is not usually painful.

You may feel a little sore or stiff the following day, that is quite normal.
